No Red Line service at Fort Totten and Brookland this weekend

From WMATA:

“Single tracking to impact Blue, Orange, and Silver lines

This weekend, Saturday, Feb. 10 and Sunday, Feb. 11, Metro’s Red Line will be closed between Takoma and Rhode Island Ave stations, with no Red Line service at Fort Totten and Brookland. Free shuttle buses will replace trains and the upper-level Green Line platform will remain open at Fort Totten providing an alternative for some customers traveling into downtown DC.

During the weekend, Metro will install radio and fiber-optic cables to upgrade communications systems and support future technology improvements. Crews will also perform additional signaling, track and system maintenance between the Red Line stations.

On the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines, service will be adjusted to accommodate single tracking between McPherson Sq and Smithsonian stations. Workers will replace rail and fasteners, weld together sections of rail to eliminate joints for a safer, smoother ride, along with other mechanical and system maintenance.

Construction between Rhode Island Ave and Takoma

Trains will operate in two segments: Glenmont to Takoma and Shady Grove to Rhode Island Ave with service every six minutes during the day and every 10 minutes in the evening.
Brookland-CUA Station and lower-level Red Line platform at Fort Totten Station closed (Upper-level Green Line platform at Fort Totten will remain open).
Free Shuttle Bus Service:
Express Shuttle between Takoma and Rhode Island Ave every 10 minutes.
Local Shuttle stops at all stations: Takoma, Fort Totten, Brookland-CUA, and Rhode Island Ave every 10 minutes.
Customers should allow up to an additional 30 minutes of travel time to accommodate shuttle buses.
Red Line customers at affected stations traveling to/from events or activities in downtown DC should consider:
Park & Ride from Green Line stations between Greenbelt and Fort Totten; or
Park & Ride from the opposite side of the Red Line at stations inbound from Shady Grove.
Parking is free on weekends. View wmata.com/parking for information on parking availability by station.

Blue Line Orange Line Silver Line Single tracking McPhersons Sq to Smithsonian

Orange and Silver line trains will operate normal service pattern every 20 minutes.
Blue Line trains will operate between Franconia-Springfield and Foggy Bottom only every 20 minutes.
Customers should transfer to/from the Orange or Silver lines to continue their trip.
In addition, customers are advised to use the last outbound Silver Line train of the night to connect with the last train for Blue Line stations.

Green Line Yellow Line Increased Service

Trains will run every six minutes between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and every eight minutes all other times to provide more frequent service to downtown stations.”

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
