“Krampus Holiday Pop-Up in The Pub and the People’s Cellar Speakeasy is BACK”

1648 North Capitol Street, NW courtesy The Pub and the People

From an email:

“First, last year’s Krampus Pop-Up is BACK this year in our cellar speakeasy, The Side Door. It’s a fun spin on the well-worn holiday pop-up. Everybody knows Santa, who rewards good little children with presents, but have you heard of Santa’s counterpart, Krampus, who punishes the naughty kids? In a cellar speakeasy after dark, it’s fun to be a little naughty, so we thought we’d give Krampus his due and design our holiday pop-up around him for a change! (It’s still visually a holiday theme, of course.) Here’s a sample of the new and improved holiday cocktail menu (which in total is 18 cocktails):

Elf Around and Find Out
White Rum, Raspberry Brandy, Spiced Raspberry (Anise), Topo Chico

Krampus on Campus
(Swedish Mulled Wine – served hot)
Red Blend, Aquavit, Rainwater Madeira, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves, Orange, Vanilla, Raisins, Almonds

The Hogfather
Bacon Washed Compassbox Orchard House, Tempus Fugit Noyeaux

Jingle Juice
Maison Rouge VS Cognac, Allspice Dram, Fig, Lemon

Krampus Baby
(Oaxacan Hot Chocolate – served hot)
Siete Misterio Mezcal, Amaro Nonino, Coconut Milk Beverage, Dark Chocolate, Cacao, Orange Zest

The space will be open Wednesdays and Thursdays 7-11pm, Fridays and Saturdays 7pm-1am. Reservations can be made on Resy.com (select a “Side Door” time slot). The space is also available for private events (inquiries can be made via The Pub and the People’s website).

Second, we are bringing back our fire pits on the patio, for those who love the smell and crackle of a campfire without the need to leave the City. Turns out, a lot of DC folks aren’t scared of winter weather! If the fire isn’t warm enough, there are always Hot Toddys and our world-famous Hot Bourbon Cider, made with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice.”

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
