“Shooting Investigation at 13th & U St NW. No lookout at this time.”
“The Third District is investigating a shooting in the 1900 block of 13th Street, NW. An adult male sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Anyone with information that may assist is asked to contact 202-727-9099.”
Regarding Saturday morning’s shooting in the 1200 block of U Street, NW, MPD reported:
“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred on Saturday, August 5, 2023, in the 1200 block of U Street, Northwest.
At approximately 5:04 am, Third District officers were in the area of the listed location when they heard the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival on the scene, members located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life, the victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 19-year-old Andre Baker, of Southeast, DC.
On Saturday, August 5, 2023, 20-year-old David Botchway, of Gwynn Oak, MD, was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder while Armed.”
