At long last the big news from Lidl:

“Lidl US, one of the nation’s top-ranked grocers, will open its newest store in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, June 28 in Columbia Heights. The store, located at 3100 14th St. NW, will be Lidl’s second in the District after its successful opening in 2022 at Skyland Town Center. The store will hold a soft opening at 8:00 a.m. Local leaders, including Deputy Mayor Keith Anderson, will welcome Lidl to the community at an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. The grand opening day celebration will feature get-them-while-you-can special offers for customers. The store will operate from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

“Our community was incredibly excited to welcome the District’s first Lidl to Ward 7 last year, and now we are excited to welcome our second Lidl to Ward 1,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “Our focus has been – and continues to be – on increasing access to fresh, healthy, and affordable groceries, and that is what Lidl is helping us do. With this opening, we celebrate more food options and more jobs for DC residents.”

With the opening of the new store, Lidl is creating approximately 50 new jobs. Starting pay for all store associates will be $19 per hour. Lidl provides comprehensive benefits, including healthcare for all full-and-part-time positions, regardless of hours worked per week.

Grand Opening Celebration Details
At the grand opening event on June 28, the first 100 customers in line before the store opens at 8:00 a.m. will receive a special gift card ranging from $5 to $100 each. Shoppers can also sample Lidl’s award-winning assortment and take advantage of special giveaways.

Lidl is also proud to support its local communities and will be partnering with Martha’s Table to give back. Throughout the entire grand opening weekend, Lidl will donate $1 to the non-profit for every new myLidl member who signs up and sets the new store as their home store.

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
