So a DDOT truck drove up in front of my house today and put up some new parking signs in spots that I guess have been in need of them. Great! Hooray for infrastructure!
Except when they left, I noticed that the signs read “2 hour parking—Zone 4A permit holders excepted.”
Which is interesting, because I and my neighbors all have “zone 4” parking stickers…and the EXISTING signs at the end of my block say “Zone 4,” NOT “Zone 4A.”
I called 311 to see if this was a mistake, or a distinction without a difference…and after a lot of fumbling around, the guy on the other end finally blurted out that there is *no difference* between Zone 4 designations—”Zone 4 is Zone 4!” he insisted. Somehow this did not reassure me!
Googling the subject doesn’t seem to yield anything…so, question: Can a car with a Zone 4 sticker park for more than two hours in a Zone 4A area? And does it matter if none of the signs on my block are in agreement with one another regarding exactly which zone we’re in?
Appreciate any wisdom you might be able to share on the subject!”
