“Residents have voiced concerns about individuals knocking on their doors soliciting about their company and requesting to view your utility bill. Many of these groups are third-party entities not affiliated directly with the company they represent. They are often temporarily hired through marketing agencies and have no connection to your current utility company. Please be mindful that you do not have to open your door or engage with any subjects.
We also recommend not allowing anyone you do not know into your home to protect yourself and your property. If someone does knock on your door, you have the right to refuse their services and ask to see their ID through your peephole or any recording device connected to your home. You could also post stickers or signage on your door stating no soliciting. These stickers and signs are available through various retail and online services. Typically, if an agency or utility company is offering services, you should receive mail matter in their name with phone numbers you could contact directly.
Lastly, residents have also indicated that they have received scam calls regarding delinquent bills and the need to pay them or face possible imprisonment. Please be advised that no government agency, whether federal or local, will call you directly inquiring about required payments. You will typically receive a letter or email if you have paperless services with those agencies. Do not engage in these scam calls, and please do not purchase gift cards as often requested. If you need to verify the call you received, hang up and call that agency directly to speak with a supervisor.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
