End of an Era as Estadio Closing in Logan Circle February 18th

1520 14th Street, NW opened back in 2010

Thanks to all who passed on the sad news from Estadio:

“If you haven’t heard the news, i wanted to let you know that we have decided that it is time to say farewell to our beloved restaurant.

Of course this does not come without much sadness, but as i told the Washingtonian yesterday, i certainly view this more as a funeral for a 100 year-old person, than as a funeral for a 30 year-old! We sure have a lot to look back on proudly and to celebrate from these past 13 years, and we intend so do plenty of that these next few weeks!

The eulogies and an abundance of thoughts and big thank you’s will surely follow, but we are sharing this news now and not later, because we want to let you know that we have every intention of hosting a non-stop party until the end of our final service on February 18th, and we sure hope you can make plans to celebrate with us!!

We look forward to sharing a slew of favorite memories and photos and such, during these festive final days, but as the ball is in my court this afternoon, i have decided to start by sharing this one of my late grandpa and i! When it was snapped he had recently turned 100 himself, and i remember joyfully taking in that special evening, as it would be the last with him in the room. Sure enough, my premonition was correct. At 102, Pa passed last year, and while it was not void of mourning, we focused on celebrating his rich life in just the way i hope Estadio DC’s is in these coming days!
NOTHING lasts forever, but we sure hope to add plenty of more enduring, jubilant memories as we get ready to say so long!

Thanks to the amazing talents and efforts of our Chef Dimas Mendoza, GM Jennifer Lucy and our incredible team, you may still yet have your finest Estadio experience ever! I am so thankful for all of my teammates, and we are looking forward to going out with a true bang!”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
