From a press release:

“Neighborhood Restaurant Group (NRG) is pleased to announce the reopening of the popular powerhouse restaurant Birch & Barley located at 1337 14th St NW, Washington, D.C.

“Birch & Barley is part of the DNA that makes Logan Circle such a great and vibrant neighborhood,” said Michael Babin, CEO of NRG. “We are excited to reintroduce the restaurant to the friends and guests we’ve missed so much over the last two-and-a-half years.”

The restaurant has become a part of the fabric of the iconic 14th Street corridor by highlighting classic culinary influences while ingeniously incorporating locally and regionally sourced products. Executive Chef Brian Stickel, who has worked in acclaimed D.C. kitchens such as 1789, The Hamilton and Clyde’s, will oversee the culinary program of this American tavern, with each dish reflecting seasonality and ingredient-focused cooking.

“I love to eat simple, rustic food,” said Stickle. “A perfectly roasted chicken, accompanied by crisp, fresh vegetables, or a thick marbled steak with fries, are unbeatable comfort dishes and accurately represent what is a long-lasting tradition of American dining. And that is exactly what we are aiming to replicate for guests at Birch & Barley: a delightful and familiar experience where the sight and aromas of dishes, combined with the relaxed atmosphere, never fail to excite them.”

Guests can expect an exciting array of appetizers like Roasted Oysters topped with Tasso ham butter, breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. Other starter assortments include Mushroom Toast served with Taleggio fondue, melted leeks and a red wine reduction and Lamb Carpaccio, with bulgur, tomato, parsley and lemon aioli. Prices for these dishes range between $7.00 and $16.00.

Central to the menu is a curated selection of fresh produce, farm-raised meats and freshly caught seafood. Newcomers include 72 Hour Sous-Vide Beef Short Ribs, served with potato purée, beech mushrooms and roasted root vegetables and Tomahawk Pork Chop, with sweet potatoes, bacon, Brussels sprouts, apple compote and mustard sauce. Pasta aficionados can rejoice in a unique home-style Lobster Bucatini, which highlights a half Maine lobster over house made pasta with capers, lemon, shallots and butter. Main dishes are priced between $19.00 and $38.00.

Award-winning Beverage Director and Partner Greg Engert has curated an unprecedented collection of nearly 500 handpicked beers embracing the full spectrum of styles, traditions and flavor possibilities, each perfectly suited to pair with dishes from Chef Stickel’s menu. The wine program, from Wine Director, Erin Dudley, includes a wide selection of old and new world offerings produced by boutique vintners practicing sustainable winemaking, while Spirits Director Nick Farrell’s cocktail list celebrates new takes on classic drinks alongside a massive selection of 150+ whiskeys

“Like our sister-bar ChurchKey, Birch & Barley offers more than a fantastic beer menu – it offers a thoughtful and curated experience for beer and non-beer lovers alike,” said Engert. “Our beverage program allows guests to access the distinctive stories and legends behind every single beer, spirit, cocktail and wine we choose to feature on our menu. We stop at nothing to source the best, most special, and often most hard-to-find products in the world, and we can’t wait to start sharing them again.”

The newly refreshed interior makes Birch & Barley the ultimate spot for a casual date night, business dinner and special occasion. The updated furnishings and décor bring a sophisticated look to the modern interior. The cozy, 3400 square-foot restaurant and bar have 80 seats.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
