“Dear PoPville,

I’m here to report the Power of PoPville!

My meter relocation issue was posted on Monday and on Tuesday, I received a call from someone in the construction department of Washington Gas. Apparently several people had forwarded him the posting and he was calling to help answer my questions and resolve the issue.

A PSA on responsibilities related to moving a meter:

1) The homeowner is responsible for paying to relocate the actual meter
2) if your service line (line from the house to the street) needs to be updated, it is Washington Gas’s responsibility
3) However, since the homeowner requested the changes, the homeowner is responsible for paying for the flagger people (signs that say “Slow” or “Stop” in the road) while the line is updated

The Washington Gas rep said that estimates from vendors are reviewed for accuracy, but I’m not sure when that process occurs or how closely estimates are reviewed.

My bill went from $6,000 to $3,000 as I was being charged originally for 1, 2, and 3 above, instead of just 1 and 3.

I hope this helps other people in the future.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
