DC Fire and EMS reported at 4:25am August 12th: “Update Working Fire 3200 block Grace St NW. #DCsBravest located fire in restaurant kitchen area first floor rear. Visible fire extinguished. Opening up and checking for extension. No injuries.”

Reverie‘s owner Johnny Spero wrote on his IG:

“I can’t begin to explain the range of emotions I’ve encountered this weekend. The one thing that hit me harder then everything going inside my head is the insane outpouring of support from the DC community and beyond. The fire was more devastating than the original story we had posted. The fire and smoke damage is extensive and we will have to completely rebuild. We’ve been saying from day 1 we aren’t going anywhere and this won’t stop us, it will only make us better. We are going to continue to challenge ourselves and push forward. My family and team are thankful for every single message and call and I will keep everyone updated on our progress.”

A GoFundMe has been launched and already raised almost $42,000 as of this morning. The fundraiser’s goal is set at $200,000:

“We are raising money for our colleague and extraordinary friend, Johnny Spero whose flagship restaurant, Reverie, was lost after a brutal fire last night (August 11th).

This fatal accident has taken away all his life’s work and future dreams of him and his team. For many of us, this is not only a restaurant but a place where we rejoice with our friends, family and loved ones.

We count on your support to help Johnny and his team get back in the game.
These are the restaurants that make our city bigger and better and with an unmatchable hospitality. Let’s get this restaurant, this team, these families, back in the game!

They make our nation’s capital the best dining destination in the world.
We will share more updates as the become available by authorities.”

Reverie’s website says:

“Due to a fire early in the morning on (8/12), we are temporarily closed to recover, rebuild, and reopen. We are so appreciative of all the love and support.

To stay up to date, please follow along @reverie_restaurant and sign up for our mailing list. We look forward to opening our doors for you soon, DC.

Much love,
Reverie”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
