The Boardwalk space for lease in Penn Quarter – Boardwalk Bar & Arcade still open in the Wharf

507 7th Street, NW

Thanks to Jake for sending: “The Boardwalk, which was a deeply unsuitable replacement for the late, lamented Iron Horse, appears to have closed. It will not be missed.”

Richard asks: “Did they just relocate to the Wharf, or were they running 2 locations? (Same joint, right?)”

The Boardwalk’s Wharf website says:

“Boardwalk Bar & Arcade is a brand new drinking, dining, and entertainment experience at The Wharf in Washington, D.C. Opened in February 2022, the venue is the largest indoor/outdoor bar in our nation’s capital. Our 10,000+ square foot space features 2 levels, a covered outdoor patio that is operable in every season, 4 private event spaces, and 3 bars serving creative takes on craft cocktails and frozen drinks as well as an extensive draft beer list. The kitchen offers beach-inspired bites such as carnival-style pretzels, corn dogs, and cotton candy along with options for sandwiches, tacos, and pizza, as well. Spread throughout the venue are a variety of games, including shuffleboard, skeeball and pinball, and a wide range of arcade classics. Our belief is that no matter what age or size of your group, we will have something for you to enjoy.

Brought to you by Better Hospitality Group (BHG), the D.C.-based bar & restaurant company behind TAKODA and CORTEZ in Shaw as well as The Boardwalk Bar & Eatery in Penn Quarter, Boardwalk Bar & Arcade at The Wharf expands on its downtown sister bar’s success. With almost double the space of the original Penn Quarter location, the BHG team had more room to explore its vision for the concept and bring it to the waterfront. Working with local architecture firm Wood + Starr, the venue was designed to pay homage to beachside boardwalks from Ocean City, Maryland to Santa Monica, California by using reclaimed woods, pinks, turquoise, and navy tones. Hanging bicycles and surfboards complete the interior to invoke imagery of coastal activities.”

Sweet City Ride

Thanks to L. for sending this beautiful 98 Olds. Sweet City Ride is made possible by readers like you!

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
