“Dear PoPville,

Anyone convert a natural gas furnace to an electric furnace that supplies hot water to radiators?

I own a rowhome with an old natural gas furnace that heats water and supplies it to radiators throughout the house.

I am interested in replacing the natural gas furnace with an electrical furnace that will supply hot water to the radiators throughout my house, basically replacing the natural gas for electricity, but maintaining the radiator sourced heat.

My HVAC company stated there is not a commercially available electric furnace replacement. I would either have to replace it with another natural gas furnace to maintain my radiator heat or get a heat pump and install the appropriate forced air ducting. I prefer the radiator heat to the forced air heat and don’t want more ducting running through my house.

Does anyone know of an electrical furnace option that heats water and allows me to maintain my radiator supplied heat?”
