The history:

“Bistrot du Coin opened its doors on Memorial Day in 2000 by Yannis Felix and Michel Verdon. The motto is French, Fun and Friendly, this is our guideline to bring you the best french experience ever. Located in the heart of Dupont Circle in Washington D.C. for 20 years, Bistrot du Coin is celebrating french cuisine 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Be our guest and discover our typical French dishes such as Boeuf Bourguignon, Blanquette de Veau, Raviole de Royan, Moules Marinières…, tastful appetizers like our French Onion Soup, Escargots, Foie Gras, Paté de campagne or homemade mouthwatering French dessert such as the Creme Brulee, Fondant au chocolat or Mouse au chocolat.

The word Bistrot or Bistro is defined in French as a neighborhood restaurant where you can eat good food at a fair price. The typical color of a French Bistrot is pale yellow to brown (otherwise known as Bistre) because the walls used to get dirty quickly from nicotine. Bistrot Du Coin is also known for its parties, three times a year to celebrate famous French events such as Bastille day on July 14th, The Beaujolais Nouveau on the third thursday of November or The New Year’s Eve.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
