“Chefs Stopping AAPI Hate (CSAH), founded by Tim Ma and Kevin Tien, announce the launch of an ambitious fundraising event on Monday, March 21, 2022 to support World Central Kitchen (WCK), founded by José Andrés, in its efforts to feed thousands of Ukrainian families and refugees displaced by the current invasion.
CSAH mobilized the industry for a one-night-only dinner, hosted by Moon Rabbit at the InterContinental Washington D.C. – The Wharf, for a 10-course meal (with optional wine pairings) featuring:

CSAH–an organization dedicated to spreading awareness of the ongoing attacks on the Asian American community and amplifying voices in support of social justice around the world–committed its resources in support of the Ukrainian people as they courageously fight for their lives, their homes, and their culture. WCK is working with local restaurants, caterers, and food trucks in the region to provide nourishing meals at border crossings, shelters, and other refugee communities.
“We were looking for a way to help. Sometimes it’s easy to feel like we are powerless to do something, but the best thing we can do is cook for change,” says Tien. The team pulled their network together in less than 24 hours, contacting everyone from World Central Kitchen to chefs with Michelin-starred restaurants.
“We knew we could put something together quickly, and we are so grateful for the city’s chefs stepping up without hesitation,” says Ma, who is a member of World Central Kitchen’s Chef Corps. “This dinner is just the outlet we need to get funds to World Central Kitchen whose team is directly on the ground and can offer immediate help.”
From DC chef-turned-humanitarian José Andrés, World Central Kitchen deploys chefs all over the world to help during natural and man-made disasters, feeding people in their most vulnerable states. All profits from the event will go directly to WCK’s #ChefsforUkraine activities.
Additionally, there is a call for corporate sponsors to match donations.
“Seeing the tragedy unfold over the past few days, the team at InterContinental Washington D.C. – The Wharf is dedicated to doing our part to support Ukraine,” says Chris Lee, general manager of the hotel. “We are grateful to Tim and Kevin, of Chefs Stopping AAPI Hate, for spearheading the charge to organize this team of industry leaders and come together to aid those in need at this significant time.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
