How does a resident go about verifying that reserved handicapped spots on the street are still needed? I know of multiple incidents where a family member passes away and the family keeps the handicapped reserved spot, limiting parking on the street for neighbors.

Obviously, this is a sensitive issue as an observer may not be aware of a person’s disability status but if people are exploiting them that seems unfair to other neighbors.

I don’t think neighbors should be the ones responsible for “tattling” but also I’m not sure if DC removes the signs after someone passes on.”
