“I was just so impressed with this table at Le Diplomate and hope their generous spirit is something others emulate.”

“Dear PoPville,

My friend had just broke up with her boyfriend of 4+ years, on top of a pandemic, on top of it being Father’s Day – and she lost her dad in her 20s very unexpectedly.

It’s not the most stable weekend to return to society. But we went out, and not surprisingly at Le Diplomat she needed to step outside while I cancelled our order and closed our drink bill. I ushered my friend outside and told her I would take care of the logistics. When things were settled and I called her she was not at the corner and I began to circle the restaurant. At the end of the units on 14th street I came across a lovely table who had taken my distraught and drunk friend in and were giving her water and bread and genuine understanding.

I showed up apologizing all over myself for her and they were all very sweet and empathetic and human. They recognized my friend wasn’t at her best in that moment but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a smart, Vivacious, accomplished professional badass woman who just wasn’t at her best. I would love to think that more people in DC could emulate their grace and just acknowledge that people have shitty / sloppy days because life has sucked for the last year. But they deserve help and kindness and non judgement.

I was just so impressed with this table at Le Diplomate and hope their generous spirit is something others emulate.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
