“you can title/register/tag/etc. your car at tag and title shops in the area”

“Dear PoPville,

With all the posts about how hard it is to get an appointment at the DC DMV, I had to share that you can register your car without going to the DMV!

Back in November, I bought a used car from an auto shop in Maryland who could not process DC tags. I haven’t owned a car since living in DC, so I had to go to the DMV to get tags before I could take it off the lot. Like many readers, getting an appointment was IMPOSSIBLE.

So I did some digging and learned that you can title/register/tag/etc. your car at tag and title shops in the area.

There aren’t many that are able to do this in DC, but I found one in Edgewater Maryland that was able to do it. I scheduled an appointment online for the next day and I had my plates, registration, and parking permit in about 15 minutes (the title came in the mail a couple of weeks later). I paid about a $50 or $55 convenience fee and of course had to drive the hour out to Edgewater, but it was 10000% worth it to take my new car home!

Hopefully this can help other DC residents who need these services sooner rather than later. The shop is called Tag and Title Service of Maryland and their website here. They are also very COVID conscious which is great!

Hope this helps!”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
