Thanks to Troy for sending word about the Sandi Buns ghost kitchen launching out of Service Bar Thursday. Sandi Buns’ website says:

“Let’s face it, COVID sucks, burgers are awesome, so let’s have some fun with it. Sandi Buns is an eclectic ghost concept from the minds behind Service Bar, but will be driven by the community.

When: Launching Thursday January 21st | Where: Online Pickup and Delivery (926 U Street, NW)

What makes us unique?

We want to hear from you! What is your favorite, crafty, crazy, fun idea for a burger? Ask and you shall receive; once a week we will select our favorite guest idea and feature it. If yours gets picked, come grab a free one on us, but don’t wait too long! We will be making a limited number of guest features every week. Crave your creation.

We’ll be serving burgers with our favorite beef from 7 Hills farm, vegetarian friendly Impossible Meat, crispy and grilled brined chicken sandwiches, salads, sides and more to come.

Wait, we can submit our own creation?

Yep that’s right, share with us your ‘favorite burger’, and we’ll pick one every week to feature as our guest feature. If it’s good enough, maybe it will even earn it’s own spot permanently on our menu. Who knows, maybe we will start taking chicken sandwiches, cocktails, and other ideas too…”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
