Cameo coffee shop and Shop Made in DC opened in Hill East Today

1401 Pennsylvania Ave, SE photo by Austin Graff

From an email:

“The first concepts to open this Thursday will be Cameo, our coffee shop, and the Shop Made in DC storelet located next door.

Nazia Khan is NRG’s Director of Coffee, and the woman leading the charge along with Greg Engert, who serves as the company’s Beverage Director. Cameo has been designed to pay respect to the culturally rich and globally minded DC community; it will rotate through a lineup of direct-source coffee and tea from around the world, while prioritizing sustainable, eco-consciousness, and socially responsible choices – from the beverages served, to the compostable packaging and zero waste practices, to the makers with which we partner.

Cameo’s primary roaster is Parlor Coffee, a small roasting company out of Brooklyn, NY. We’ve partnered with Parlor not only because of their exceptional product, but also because of their strong commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. All teas are sourced from Spirit, a Chicago farm-direct loose tea company, and a menu of pastries and breads will be available from Pluma and Buzz Bakeshop.

Menu:
Coffee Hot / Iced
Espresso
Americano
Macchiato
Cortado
Cappuccino
Latte
Seasonal Lattes

Chai Latte
Matcha Latte
Hot Chocolate
Loose Leaf Tea
Iced Tea: Hibiscus & Black
Hot Tea: Black Gold; Iron Goddess; Crescent Green; Malabar – Ginger Turmeric; Rosella – Hibiscus

A rotating pastry selection – including croissants, turnovers, cookies, scones, artisanal breads and vegan options – is available from Buzz Bakeshop and Pluma.

Vendors:

Parlor Coffee Roasters – Parlor travels to origin to meet with farmers and taste every harvest. This ensures a healthy supply chain, in which we know our farmers and invest in their growth, delivering only the finest coffee grown around the world.

Spirit Tea – Spirit works with farmers seasonally to source uncommon teas that feature the natural beauty of the tea plant, always free of additives or flavorings.

Homestead Creamery – Homestead employs minimal pasteurization to produce fresh, natural, creamy and sweet dairy, produced locally in Franklin County, VA, and bottled in eco-friendly glass bottles.

Madhu Chocolate – Indian-inspired, single-origin chocolate made with cacao from the Tumaco region of Colombia.

Living Juice – organic, cold-pressed juice company committed to fresh juice free of added sweeteners and water.

Bear’s Fruit – Kombucha fermented with 100% organic, non GMO fruit & herbs.

Hours: Daily from 8 AM to 2 PM

Meanwhile, The Roost’s Shop Made in DC storelet will feature a curated collection from around 40 DC makers, taking into account the residents above the food hall at Blackbird, as well as the neighbors in the surrounding area.”
