“I was verbally assaulted by a man because I asked him to keep his distance on the sidewalk”

“Dear PoPville,

30 minutes ago [around 1:30pm] I was verbally assaulted by a man because I asked him to keep his distance on the sidewalk- he was not wearing a mask [in Meridian Hill/Malcolm X park.] He replied with “What did you say B*tch” and “I will kill you.” I was so scared that I started running. He started running after me. Then I turned around and said, “how dare you say that.” A young man man got in the middle and told him to calm down but I was so scared for my life, I was seeing tunnel vision that I sprinted off – to later collapsed and start crying. I want to report this first, to see if one of your readers was the young man with a dog that tried to stop the attack so that he could maybe help identify the crazy man. Second, to warn other women, to be aware no matter what neighborhood, and no matter what time of day. Anti maskers are among us and they are angry.”

Ed. Note: If you are the man with the dog please email me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
