Now Back to ‘Despite It All Awesome Abounds’ Featuring Prince the elderly blind and deaf poodle’s miraculous rescue from a sewer and much more

“My mom’s 16 year old toy poodle got out of the gate and across the street and fell down the sewer drain (at Crittenden & Queens Chapel NE). Prince the poodle is elderly, blind, and deaf. My mom called me in a panic at 4:00, saying that our neighbor had seen Prince fall. 311 dispatched Humane Rescue Alliance, and the DC fire department later arrived to try to open every man hole near where Prince was last seen. After 2 hours I thought we would call it. But the DC humane rescue did not give up!

DC water opened the cemented man hole covers and went atleast a 1/2 mile down the street trying to open every man hole cover. When we were ready to give up (again), DC water removed the last cover and DC humane society fearlessly went into the hole and found Prince!!

We were so impressed with how compassionate, relentless and professional the humane rescue staff were and can not thank them enough!! In this time of uncertainty, it’s great to know that people still really care and that we haven’t given up on each other, or our pets!!”

And some more awesome:
