Thanks to ANC Rep Kishan Putta for sending the update:
“Neighbors,
Thank You! The bus cuts affecting our neighbors will be reversed!!!
Our many months of hard-fought advocacy have paid off. We heard from hundreds of you. I testified 5 times about it. Thank you for all the helpful input and emotional stories you sent to me and to Metro. We worked hard to ensure that Metro, the Council, and the Mayor all heard your voices – loudly!
-
D1, G2, 54, 59, 30-N/S, 16-C bus service will NOT be cut. Metro will vote Thursday on the new proposal after over 5,000 comments on just these routes.
-
Thousands of neighbors, workers, and students will have access to the routes they rely on. They were worried they would have to drive instead – worsening congestion and pollution. Some were considering making the wrenching decision of moving because of it!
-
We thank Metro for listening. We hope that in the future, they will approach us FIRST – the affected communities – instead of worrying so many people unnecessarily.
I heard from contacts within Metro that this process was wrong-headed – and I agree. Important transportation planning decisions should include thorough analysis that includes thorough community input and consideration of implications and alternatives ahead of time – so that decisions are well-informed. We hope that someday, when social distancing ends, we will see you all back at the bus-stops!”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
