Your Afternoon Animal Fix – AdoPtville

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by two volunteers who compile these pets weekly from local shelters.

As you can see, our friend Brewser takes his search for a fur-ever home to rescue very seriously! Brewser is a 45-lb. Bassett Hound mix looking for a loving family. He gets along well with other dogs and would do well in a home with another dog, or as an only dog, so long as he gets some doggy socialization at the park or day care. Brewser loves people of all ages – despite his serious face, he’s a mellow dude, but at 4 years old, still has lots of fun energy! Mr. Brewser is definitely a hound – he loves guarding his foster family’s yard from the threat of squirrels – in fact, his adoptive family will need to keep tight hold of that leash because Brewser is on the squirrel-chasing job! He is an affectionate dog who loves to be pet and to cuddle on the couch. Brewser is currently being treated for heartworm but is doing well and will provide his family with many years of loving companionship. His new family will be lucky to have this loving Lucky Dog! It’s party season, and pretty girl Fiesta is ready to join in!! This 2-3 year-old tabby cat is looking for a home where she can share her love. Fiesta is an affectionate cat who loves her people and does well with other cats and dogs (with the proper introductions of course). Fiesta is vocal about affection – she wants you to know she’s in the market for some petting and cuddling time! She’s a confident and sweet girl who would do well in a home with or without other pets and with children over 12. At 8 lbs. Fiesta is on the petite side, but her purr-sonality shines through! This lovely “pawty” girl will make a wonderful companion. Find out more about adopting Fiesta here.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
