From a press release:

“Washington, D.C.’s newest culinary concept, Corner Office, officially announces today its opening on the corner of 15th and Pennsylvania Avenue. Utilizing twin 800-degree wood-fired ovens, Corner Office’s menu leads with simple, authentic wood-fired pizzas that are meant to be paired with the restaurant’s extensive list of local, domestic and international beers.

Corner Office Chef de Cuisine William Morris’ menu emphasizes how simple ingredients can come together to create an unparalleled dining experience. Crafting the perfect pizza has been a true labor of love for Morris, who over the past year has tested dozens of dough recipes to achieve the ideal crust, and has spent hours working with a local cheesemonger to come up with the blend for each pie.

“We’re thrilled to open the doors to Corner Office and to be the year-round spot for authentic pizzas and ice cold beer,” said Morris. “For me, good pizza is all about the crust, and our wood-fired ovens impart a unique char flavor into each pie. The simple combination cannot be beat, and I hope our guests love what we’ve created and come back time and time again.”

Signature pies from the Corner Office kitchen cater to red sauce and white pizza-lovers alike. The Funghi pizza is topped with a blend of foraged maitake, royal trumpet and shitake mushrooms with fontina and mozzarella cheese. The menu also has classics like the Artisan Pepperoni, prepared the way Chef likes it — light on the red sauce, heavy on the cheese — and to stir up some controversy, the Aloha Y’all, a Hawaiian-style pizza kicked up a notch using tasso ham and caramelized pineapple.

Less traditional offerings include the Farmhouse Quacker, with smoked mozzarella, potato, red onion, crispy duck and a savory farm egg, or the Giardiniera, which satisfies vegetarians with pickled cauliflower, roasted garlic puree, chilies, pecorino and mint. The menu also features a selection of small plates,likeChili-LimeChicharronesandP imentoCheeseDip,aswellaslighterfarelikeanArugula& Artichoke Salad, all created with beer pairings in mind.
Boasting one of the most unique beer programs in the city, Corner Office offers a selection of nearly 50 drafts, including 38 constantly rotating taps, from local favorites like Right Proper, Atlas Brew Works and DC Brau, to domestic and international classics. Those who need assistance picking a brew can consult one of Corner Office’s servers and managers, all who have received comprehensive beer training from Master Cicerone Neil Witte. Imbibers will also find a selection of wines and specialty cocktails on tap. The beverage program is overseen by Garth Welsh, Certified Cicerone and Director of Beverage & Food for W Washington DC.

Corner Office’s year-round beer garden is perfect for happy hour and any social occasion, featuring large communal tables that encourage sharing. In the summer, bocce courts keep guests entertained while the winter will bring a Winter Wonderland, covering tables with igloos and turning the courts into curling rinks.

With art being a major theme throughout the design of the space, Corner Office’s beer garden features an expansive mural by local artist Mike Tanoory, that highlights the hotel’s motto of “Crossing the Party Line” with the Republican Elephant and Democratic Donkey enjoying pizza and beer amongst other animals. Inside, guests are met with a mural that pays tribute to Go-Go music, D.C.’s native iconic blend of blues, funk and old school hip-hop. Created in collaboration with renowned local artists Gaia and Aniekan Udofia, the mural infuses color in the underground space and firmly connects Corner Office to its home city.

Corner Office will pour drafts and sling pies from it’s wood-fired ovens for lunch and dinner, Monday through Sunday, as well as during happy hour Monday through Friday.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
