Muncheez, Middle Eastern fast casual restaurant, coming to former DGS space in Dupont

1317 Connecticut Avenue, NW formerly DGS

From a press release:

Muncheez, a Middle Eastern fast casual restaurant with locations in Georgetown and Tenleytown, will open a third location in Dupont Circle later this summer. Located at 1317 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Muncheez Dupont Circle will open at 11:00 a.m. daily, serving a daytime lunch crowd, while operating into the early morning hours to also service late night patrons in the neighborhood.

Founder and owner, David Nammour, opened the first Muncheez in 2010 and was inspired by Lebanese street food and his upbringing in Beirut when developing the restaurant and its menu. Muncheez is known for its flavorful, made-from-scratch shawarmas, bowls, and mezze alongside a variety of manakeesh, a Mediterranean-style flatbread. The full menu can be found here. Nammour, a trained civil engineer turned restaurateur, was inspired by his background in engineering to run a sustainable operation, and Muncheez Dupont Circle will operate on clean energy, provide close to 100% compostable packaging, will compost food waste as well as recycle fryer grease.

The two-level restaurant will also be able to accommodate eat-in customers with café and high-top seating.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
