From MPD:

“First District Detectives are currently investigating an Assault w/a Dangerous Weapon (ADW) which occurred Monday evening on Kings Court SE at approximately 1915 hours.

A male complainant reports he interrupted a Theft from Automobile in progress and was subsequently surrounded by three male subjects. At one point, one of the subjects struck the complainant in the head with a rock causing the complainant to drop his cellular phone to the ground.

One of the subjects picked up the phone before all three subjects fled on foot westbound on Kings Court and then southbound on 14th Street SE. The complainant was evaluated on scene by DCFEMS.

Subject look-out is for three (3) Black males, 13-17 years of age, wearing dark colored winter coats. One subject had a fur lined hoodie with short length dreads which were dyed at the tips (blonde).

Just a quick update here –

Thanks to some great on scene investigation and coordination between officers of the First and Sixth Districts, a bus carrying some of the offenders was stopped on Minnesota Avenue SE. The complainant was able to identify two of the suspects, and both were arrested.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
