Acadiana closing “after New Year’s Eve as our lease is terminating”

901 New York Avenue, NW

From Acadiana (who opened back in 2005):

“It is with great sadness we announce the closing of Acadiana Restaurant in downtown DC. Acadiana will remain open for a month-long PARDI GRAS to celebrate many wonderful years, and will close permanently after New Year’s Eve as our lease is terminating.

From the day we served our first po’boy and bowl of gumbo in September of 2005, to our famous Mardi Gras & Kentucky Derby parties, the authentic cocktails that invoked the true spirit of New Orleans and our swinging Live Jazz Brunch, it has been the joy of our lives to serve you all, to nurture and foster our Acadiana family, and to be a fixture on the DC dining scene.

Come New Year’s Eve, we’re going to (tearfully) raise a glass and say ‘Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans?’ We hope you’ll stop by before then to bid us a fond farewell.

Gus, Jeff and David”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
