“Trust me, I’m not a prude and really could care less about this person’s sex life, except their bed is right above my bed.”

“Dear PoPville,

I live in a new apartment building in NE. I moved in shortly after the building was opened and was lucky enough to snag a unit that is on the 5th floor with a unbeatable view. Unfortunately, the building’s construction leaves much to be desired and you can hear everything from the apartment above you. About 2 or 3 months ago my upstairs neighbor (who are on the top floor) starting uh…excessively engaging in adult activities.

Trust me, I’m not a prude and really could care less about this person’s sex life, except their bed is right above my bed. AND their mattress, bed frame and box spring sounds like they could have been George Washingtons. Very very creaky and extremely loud.

This happens about twice a night (5pm, 10pm.) Which ehhh can be awkward if I have guests over, like my parents, but not really that big of a deal. The problem is the early mornings. They start around 4,5,6 am in the morning. It completely wakes me up and then I can never get back to sleep. Mind you I don’t have to be to work until around 10am.

Last Tuesday morning at 4:15 in the morning I hit a broom handle on top of my ceiling in casemaybe, not sure how this is possible, they didn’t know that they sounded like they were right on top of me. They heard it. Stopped. And then didn’t care and kept on going.

Ever since they have continued to be very loud in these activities but now almost seem to be bitter and vengeful. Every morning they stomp around in what sounds like heels, work shoes, or boots for about an hour, mostly right where they know that my bedroom is before leaving for work at 9am. This is driving me INSANE. I’m not getting enough sleep, it ruins my mornings. I don’t want to give up my killer view. Do I go to the property manager? Do I bake them a pie and ask nicely? HELP!

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
