via Capital Bikeshare

From Capital Bikeshare:

“The wait is almost over! The new ebikes, known as Capital Bikeshare Plus, are battery operated pedal-assist bicycles and are part of a pilot that will run through November. Capital Bikeshare Plus ebikes will integrate seamlessly with the existing system and can be docked at any station.

With a motor that will give you a boost up to 18 mph, you’ll feel the thrill of the Capital Bikeshare Plus as you soar across the city.

Take it for a test ride today!

Just look for the lightning bolt symbol at a station nearby in the app. Once you find a Plus ebike, power it on before you ride and check that the battery lights are on.

Ebike rides are included in Capital Bikeshare memberships at no extra cost. Rent from any station using your smartphone or member key and park them at any station in the metro DC area.

The ebike motor boosts you up to 18 mph as you pedal. Be sure to always break gradually and with both hands.

More from DDOT:

“Capital Bikeshare is launching a pilot project that will add approximately 80 e-bikes to the fleet.

The new e-bikes, known as Capital Bikeshare Plus, are battery operated pedal-assist bicycles that will offer another affordable solution to get around quickly and easily. The e-bikes go into service Wednesday, September 5, 2018 with the same fee as existing Capital Bikeshare vehicles.

With over 4,300 bikes across 500 plus stations in the District, Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, VA, and Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, Capital Bikeshare is the most reliable, convenient way to navigate the region.

“Mayor Bowser, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and Capital Bikeshare are excited to unveil the new bikes,” said DDOT Director Jeff Marootian. “The Mayor stresses innovation and we are always looking for ways to improve the system. Our riders will now have the opportunity to commute longer distances with a little more power behind the pedal.”

The e-bike pilot, which will run through November, will integrate seamlessly with the existing Capital Bikeshare system and e-bikes can be docked at any Capital Bikeshare station. Riders will be able to unlock the distinctive black e-bikes using their Capital Bikeshare key fob, or from the app, whether they are a current CaBi member or a casual rider purchasing a single trip or 24-hour pass.

“Capital Bikeshare Plus will be a fun experience for both existing members and new users alike,” said DDOT Capital Bikeshare Manager Kim Lucas. “For those trying the system for the first time, they can also take advantage of Capital Bikeshare’s First Ride Free promotion available for new users in app.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
