On Wednesday we broke the news that The Dabney Cellar (from the folks behind The Dabney) located at 1222 9th Street, NW had opened at 6pm.

Lots more info from a press release:

“WHAT:

The Dabney Cellar is a tavern located directly below its restaurant counterpart and is the latest venture from co-owners chef Jeremiah Langhorne and general manager Alex Zink. The Dabney Cellar features a world-class beverage program as well as a concise menu of small shareable dishes. The robust wine list showcases a diverse assortment of thirty wines by the glass, with an emphasis on small producers.

TO DRINK:

The wine list, curated by Alex Zink, features thirty wines by the glass along with a expertly-curated selection of ciders, draft beers and signature cocktails, including classics like the Negroni with El Buho Mezcal, Aperol, Don Ciccio amaro, Barolo Chinato and pineapple weed; and the Daiquiri, with Hamilton Black Jamaican Rum, Angostora amarao and lime.

TO EAT:

Chef Jeremiah Langhorne features a small menu including a shellfish bar, salads, snacks, house-made and locally-sourced charcuterie and cheeses. Much like The Dabney, the menu, which is reflected on the tavern’s large chalkboard, changes daily and showcases the seasonal products and flavors of the mid-Atlantic region. Examples of dishes include scallop crudo, foie gras parfait, and marinated kale salad in addition to a selection of East Coast oysters including White Stones from Virginia.

THE SPACE:

Designed by Edit Lab at Streetsense, the subterranean space is entered through a winding staircase tucked beneath a classic 9th street rowhouse. Seating for 30 is available both at The Dabney Cellar’s bar as well as a small number of intimate tables. Reclaimed wood shelves house the bar’s spirits, while custom-made iron racks hold wine alongside firewood for The Dabney’s wood-burning hearth.”
