Le Pain Quotidien opens at 14th and K St, NW in former DC Coast space

14th and K Street, NW

From a press release:

“Today, Monday, September 25, D.C. will say “Bonjour!” to Belgian bakery-restaurant, Le Pain Quotidien at the corner of 14th & K St, in the former DC Coast restaurant space. The McPherson Square gathering spot will provide breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, offering a charming space for anything from meetings over coffee to intimate social events.

Built in 1929, the Tower Building lends an exposed terracotta brick ceiling and original façade to the newest Le Pain Quotidien in DC.

The historic building was once the tallest in the city and was the first local building designed in the Art Deco style. Filled with natural light through its two-story high windows, the restaurant will have the capacity to seat over 100 guests indoors and 30 on its outdoor patio. The unique layout will feature Le Pain Quotidien’s signature communal table, made of reclaimed wood, high chairs overlooking its open kitchen as well as cozy leather chairs.

Mornings at the bakery begin with Daily Blend smoothies and a range of organic egg dishes in addition to organic breads, pastries, yogurt, coffee and teas. New fall menu items include Turmeric Latte, Spiced Apple Cider, Turkey Bánh Mì, Roasted Pear & Spinach Salad, Chicken Zoodle Soup and Speculoos Tiramisu, a Belgian twist on the classic Italian treat.

Unique to this location will be a private dining room located on the lower level of the restaurant, which is slotted to open in early 2018. With the capacity for 50 seats, this will be a great option for meetings and social gatherings.

DC residents have become familiar with Le Pain Quotidien’s signature open-faced sandwiches called tartines. Tartines join other tasty options such as savory soups, salads and quiches. Come the evening, guests can linger over dinner with a glass of organic wine. This location will feature retail shelves filled with the brands’ favorite organic pantry items, like coffee, teas, jams, chocolate spreads, and honeys.

Le Pain Quotidien is also excited to announce it will be opening its 17th DC area location at Reston Town Center in Reston, Virginia in October.

Le Pain Quotidien at 14th & K Streets will be open Monday through Friday 7am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 8am to 8pm for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. For additional information on Le Pain Quotidien’s other DC, Maryland and Virginia locations and hours of operation, please visit www.lepainquotidien.com.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
