Pub Dread (and likely super long lines) coming to 7th Street in former Game of Thrones (et al) pop up space this October

From a press release:

Winter has come and gone for Drink Company, and the team is poised to celebrate fall and fright in PUB DREAD all October long. The season is ripe for horror, which will dominate the spaces that previously hosted Cherry Blossom PUB, Game of Thrones PUB, and Miracle on 7th Street (1839-1843 7th Street NW).

Co-owner Derek Brown says, “For us, Halloween is the perfect foil to create a pop-up space–you’ve got horror, camp and pop-culture all wrapped in one season. We’ve gone all out with this one and, from the decor to the drinks, I think Halloween heads are going to rejoice. Plus, you get to wear your costume 31 days this year, which is a total bonus.”

At PUB Dread, guests will celebrate Halloween for 31 day straight with cocktails like The Dead Will Walk the Earth and We All Float Down Here in the discomfort of The Haunted Woods and The Dollhouse. Expect plenty of frightful surprises that will challenge you to hold onto your drink.

THE ROOMS | With construction and design lead by Drink Company’s Special Projects team of Matt Fox (Director) and Adriana Salame Aspiazu (Manager), PUB Dread features three unique spaces playing on classic themes. Horror fans are cautiously welcome to sip drinks in The Haunted Forest, which features watching eyes, creepy creatures, and soundtracks that call back to classic horror moments. The Dollhouse features the most disturbing tribute to grandma’s vintage toy collection with dolls that seem to have minds of their own. The Crypt features coffins, tombstones, and room for more to join the dead.

THE DRINKS | “All in all, this menu and these cocktails are meant to evoke memories of the season, and especially those of Halloween past,” says Bar Manager Paul Taylor. “Halloween means candy, so we had to add a couple cocktails to the cauldron that represent the holiday”

Horror films rule the drink menu, with inspiration taken from childhood favorites and true chillers that still spook adults. A Zombie variation called BRAINS! pays homage to Night of the Living Dead, and is served in a skull tiki mug and topped with a candy brain. The coffee concoction that signifies the start of fall brought forward David S. Pumpkins, a mix of rums, sherry, pumpkin, spice, and coconut.

Beer drinkers eager for fall releases can enjoy Southern Tier’s Pumpking (on draft), DC Brau’s Oktoberfest Lager, and more.

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
