Getting in on that Sweet Game of Thrones Pop Up Action on 7th – Drift

1819 7th Street, NW via Drift on 7th

From an email:

“Nothing is better than a great Pop-Up Bar. On June 21st, Derek Brown and Angie Fetherston’s Drink Company will transform its trio of Shaw establishments–Mockingbird Hill, Southern Efficiency and Eat the Rich into the Game of Thrones-inspired North, Hall of Faces and The King’s Landing respectively.

Of course, this will be popular. There will be queuing. As the Lannister faithful line up to enjoy the fabulous atmosphere and cocktails, the pop-ups’ 7th Street neighbor, Drift on 7th, is poised to serve those who may become a little peckish while waiting for their turn to imbibe. Following The Drink Company’s lead, and in keeping with the Game of Thrones theme, Drift on 7th will offer some easy-to-eat apps. Options include “King of the North Mussels;” “Decary’s Wings,” chicken wings served just right; “Drinklage Shot,” a special libation from the bar; “Lannister Gold Corn,” Drift’s rendition of Crazy Corn and”Children of the Forrest & Dragons,” a GOT inspired version of their classic, ‘Tots and Tentacles.’ Those on line can have a place-saver and stop in for a quick bite to eat in or take out to share with their comrades while they prepare for their TV show inspired cocktail experience that will no doubt be superb.

Drift on 7th uses only carefully sourced environmentally responsible, sustainable seafood all served in a casual beach-like atmosphere. The bar is underlit with ocean blue, while the walls feature warm wooden boardwalk planks and marine décor. Live Jazz music is featured every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9 pm, featuring the best of local musicians.

Drift on 7th is open Monday through Thursday from 4-11 pm; Friday and Saturday, until 1 am with Saturday and Sunday brunch from 11:30 am-4 pm. Live Jazz on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 pm and at Sunday brunch from noon-3 pm.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
