He’s back…and approaching The $20 for Two $10s Guy in productivity.

“Dear PoPville,

Wanted to share and give a heads up to your readers about something that happened to me yesterday evening outside of the Columbia Heights Giant.

I was walking down Park Road when a middle-aged black man on a bike stopped and asked if I could do something for him. He told me he was on a scavenger hunt, and the last item he needed was a picture of the bottom of a woman’s foot.

He pulled up his phone and showed me a picture that said something about a charity scavenger hunt, which I’m sure he completely made up. He swiped through the other pictures on his phone to show me some pictures of other women’s feet, and said that he’d gotten a lot of points for the scavenger hunt that day, and if he got the most, some amount of money would go to charity. He pulled a nice camera out of his bag and asked me to take my shoes off so he could get a picture.

By this point I was exceedingly uncomfortable and trying to extricate myself from the situation as quickly as possible. I said something about needing to make an appointment and walked off.

Just wanted to share so that other people are aware this guy is out there (and probably not limiting himself to Columbia Heights). Nobody should get scammed into unknowingly helping this guy with his foot thing.”

This rental is located on G Street, SE. The Craigslist ad says:

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
