25 Year Old Shot and Killed in Mount Pleasant at 7:45pm on Friday

A reader reports:

“Wanted to alert you to a shooting that just occurred in Mt. Pleasant ~1800 alley between Irving and Harvard. Report is that a man was shot in the neck in his car. The shooter peeled away in a car and the victim apparently drove approximately 40-50 yards before crashing, as shown in the picture.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 1800 block of Harvard Street, Northwest on Friday, September 18, 2015, at approximately 7:44 pm.

Members of the Fourth District responded for the report of a shooting and upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to an area hospital, where lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 25 year-old Charles Antonio Welch, of Fort Washington, Maryland.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
