There are clearly many kegs visible in the front window. From what I can see of the bar inside it has a wooden interior similar to a barrel. All the permits and such are in the window and it’ll just be a matter of time before Barrel opens for business.”
Back in November Capitol Hill Corner reported:
“The new liquor venue would be “more upscale” than the previous occupant, with “better food” prepared by a chef from Charleston, South Carolina. According to the spokesman, the new bar will serve 18 draft beers, and the interior is being redone to restore the brick and to bring in “classy lighting.”

“A new Southern-themed bourbon and craft beer bar called Barrel is on its way to Capitol Hill from one of the owners of Union Pub and 201 Bar.”
