“ala will be briefly closing their Washington DC location for renovations beginning Thursday, January 8. The Levantine restaurant first opened in March 2021 in a space that, until now, has not been majorly renovated since 1998. Given all of the uncertainty in the city, ala wants to commit and invest in the community by updating their location to reflect what DC deserves, a bright welcoming space that brings people together. The menu will keep their signature combination of dishes from countries in the Levant region including Syria, Israel, Lebanon and Turkey.

The 10,000-square foot space will be completely remodeled, including all new kitchen and bar equipment as well as dinnerware, glassware, tables and chairs. Those who have visited the restaurant before, will also notice a different bar layout to allow for more seating, and the patio design will be changing as well to install greenery, and give a lighter feel to the space.
The renovations are estimated to cost 1.5 million and are expected to finish by mid-February.”
