I wanted to pass on to you that the Starbucks in Adams Morgan is closing as of Sunday. It’s a giant loss for the neighborhood – while it’s true that there’s no shortage of coffee shops in Adams Morgan, the staff that works there is truly fantastic. And worst of all, the partners only learned the news yesterday (and from a customer no less) that the store would be shuttered and their jobs are gone by the end of the week. We asked if they’d be moved to a different location, and they said they weren’t sure – but as the stores at 16th & U and Howard (!) are also both closing, they’re not optimistic.
If you could please pass on to your readers how great these baristas are; anyone hiring would be lucky to have someone from the Adams Morgan Starbucks join their team.”

[Ed. Note: This Starbucks only reopened, after a major renovation, almost exactly one year ago.]
Just heard from Vicki, the manager at this Starbucks, that their last day of operation is Saturday. Some team members will be given severance, some will be offered transfers to other stores. Unfortunately, as a ‘no indoor seating’ cafe, this space doesn’t fit with the new corporate direction.
It’s a great team who works at the store – they know their regulars and their orders, and are a great team (at least from the view of a long-time customer).
Here’s to hoping that the team members all land on their feet.”
