From I.M.P.:
“Night after night, The Anthem fills The Wharf with fresh beats, having hosted nearly 3 million fans since it opened in 2017. But for its latest release, The Anthem and its kitchen partners at Eco Caters are bringing something new: fresh frites! Eco Caters serves both artists backstage and fans at concessions at The Anthem, and, starting today, artists, fans, friends, and passersby alike are in for some good eats with the all-new Frites and Greet stand, located just across the walkway from The Anthem, by District Pier.
Serving fresh, hand-cut, European-style frites (like French fries, but better!), the potatoes at this stand have been double-fried to ensure maximum flavor with just the right ratio of crispiness. Each order comes with one free housemade dipping sauce with uniquely musical takes on classics, like Mean Mr. Mustard, Smoke On The Water, or Ranch Against The Machine. With seven different sauces* to choose from, it’s okay to get lost in the sauce, as each additional flavor is only 75 cents. The final piece of the puzzle? Pair the frites with one of three different housemade sparkling lemonades (strawberry, mango, or blackberry) to stay refreshed despite the sweltering summer sun.
“My son Sam, who used to be at The Anthem but now runs The Atlantis, says to me one day ‘We should sell fries. Everybody loves fries,'” said Seth Hurwitz, chairman of I.M.P. and owner of The Anthem, the 9:30 Club, and The Atlantis and operator of Merriweather Post Pavilion and the Lincoln Theatre. “Of course, we have to make the best fries, so we did a little research trip to the European frites capitals. Ten pounds later we returned, knowing what we had to do to make fries like THEY DO…fresh cut, double fried, and fantastic sauces. Our longtime chef and friend Steve Mannino joined us and came home ready to design the menu. We have always loved working with Eco, so they were the obvious choice for the actual shop.
“When I tasted the final product, it went from just selling fries, to selling the best fries,” continued Hurwitz. “I am as excited to see people enjoy them as I am to see people enjoy shows.”
Frites and Greet will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 6-9pm, and on Anthem show nights beginning at 5pm. On some nights, fans will even be able to greet some Frites after the show! The stand will also be open during The Wharf’s “Sunset Cinema Movie Nights,” currently scheduled for July 17th, July 24th, August 7, August 14, August 21, and August 28.”
