“To our beloved HalfSmoke Family,
Our journey started on October 14, 2016, with the opening of our first restaurant in Shaw. Now our lease contract has come to an end. As such, our last day of service in Shaw will be Tuesday, May 27th.
Since opening in 2016,
together we have accomplished many things. We achieved status as one of the hottest new restaurants, the coolest restaurant in Shaw, the best brunch in the city, survived with your support during the pandemic, and served as a pillar of the community during the black lives movement.
None of this would have been possible without you. Fortunately, the HalfSmoke story is not over. We are very excited about the opening of a brand-new restaurant in Skyland Anacostia early next year. It will be a bigger and better version of HalfSmoke. Our commitment to being the best brunch and great casual dining experience is unwavering, and we will continue on.
While it is bittersweet to move forward from our first love in Shaw, we are so fortunate to have been a part of the Shaw community for so many years. We will forever cherish that privilege.
