Thanks to Megan for sharing: “Took me 45 minutes to get between Gallery Place and Dupont Circle only to have the up escalator broken.”
WMATA reported: “Red Line: Expect major delays in both directions as trains single track between Van Ness and Farragut North because of a cracked rail outside Cleveland Park. Some Shady Grove-bound trains will turn back at Farragut North to minimize train traffic.”
WMATA GM Randy Clarke wrote:
“Overall system is running well but 🔴🚇 tonight definitely wasn’t our best. A broken rail Tuesday at 5pm caused single track delays. Team tried to get comms out & repair issue asap but we apologize to those impacted. We will review incident & see how we con’t improve.“
