I was sitting in Dupont Circle having coffee, he came up acted like he did not know the city well and was new to DC from Astoria NY. Seemed professional and clean cut, intelligent and his story tracked as far as what he knew about NYC and his phone number was NYC area code. I started feeling uncomfortable after I gave him my number and he sent me his. He kept asking about coffee shops that were open on Christmas and trying to get me to go for a walk with him.
I realized I could not leave the circle or he might follow me to my home a block away. So I just sat there with him and chatted. He touched my arm and my leg I told him not too and that he better leave, he just kept talking asking personal questions and said a few sexual things. I was trying to get to know him best I could in case any details would be important later.
He said he makes pencils for a living for what it’s worth. He said he lives off Scott Circle. He would not go away and kept pressuring me for a walk. I said ok we can walk right here around the circle until you leave. So I got up and started walking around the circle with him and eventually he DID leave. I called a friend who lives nearby and we went for a walk in the opposite direction the guy left from and eventually made it to my back door.
I filed a police report with MPD for simple assault.”
