“Dear PoPville,
A disturbing shooting occurred on Otis Pl NW last night at 8:05PM. The shooting is adjacent to the Bruce Monroe Elementary and the Park View Rec Center. Someone shot approximately 18 rounds (number of confirmed casings found by MPD).
We have continuously notified MPD as it is a consistent problem, but they won’t do anything. Our neighborhood has a group chat thread that allows us to share information quickly and stay safe during these types of incidents.
As a result, damage includes a car windshield and a front door. Luckily and shockingly, no one was injured. Police were warned this would happen as activity has been trending up around here lately. Of course now it is too late, but due to the lack of police response, I don’t know what else to do. Also, most of these incidents do not make the news or socials from the city, so they never get reported to the public properly. Hoping to spread awareness of this constant problem that goes well beyond our small community.”
