Update: Behold, the line:

From a press release:
“Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, the NYC born and nationally beloved ice cream brand known for its made-from-scratch dairy and vegan ice cream, is thrilled to announce that its sixth D.C. area location––located on 14th Street near Logan Circle at 1415 14th St NW––will open on Thursday, August 29th at 11:00 a.m..
“We are feeling great about bringing Van Leeuwen to such an iconic neighborhood in D.C.,” says
co-founder Ben Van Leeuwen. “Our new scoop shop is more than just a new location—it’s a
chance to connect with a new vibrant community and share our passion for delicious ice cream.
We can’t wait to open our doors on 14th Street.”
The new scoop shop will feature a large, 400 square foot patio, perfect for enjoying ice cream al
fresco.
Van Leeuwen has partnered with local Chef Johnny Spero (who collaborated with the brand on a limited edition flavor last year), to create a limited-edition sundae, exclusive only to the 14th St scoop shop.
The ‘Spero Sundae’ will feature two scoops of Van Leeuwen’s beloved Marionberry Cheesecake ice cream, and will be topped with Chef Spero’s own black cocoa caramel sauce and a caramelized roasted chocolate crumble and topped off with whipped cream. The sundae will only be offered for a limited time and while supplies last.
In addition to this special sundae, the 14th St scoop shop will feature more than 30 of the brand’s signature flavors––including Honeycomb, Pistachio (made with pistachios sourced from Mount Etna in Sicily), Marionberry Cheesecake (made with vine-ripened berries from Oregon farm partner Stahlbush Island Farms), and Earl Grey Tea (made with Rishi Tea)––along with custom sundaes, handmade ice cream sandwiches, root beer floats, milkshakes and pints to-go. An extensive selection of Van Leeuwen’s famed vegan flavors, such as Strawberry Shortcake and Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb, will also be available.
To mark the opening, Van Leeuwen will be offering $1 scoops between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 29. Additionally, the first 100 customers in line will receive a free Van Leeuwen tote.
Van Leeuwen 14th Street is located at 1415 14th St NW and is open daily at the following hours:
Sunday – Thursday 11 a.m. – 12 a.m.
Friday & Saturday 11 a.m. – 1 a.m.“
