From a press release:
“The Amelie Wine Bar team is delighted to announce the grand opening of its newest location in the vibrant Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington DC, scheduled for July 14th, 2024, on Bastille Day a symbolic date for French people. Founded by owners Germain Michel and Samie Didda, this expansion further solidifies Amelie Wine Bar’s presence as a leader in delivering an extraordinary wine and contemporary French dining experience. In addition to the founders, the exceptional team at Amelie includes Anthony Lemortellec, an alumnus of the prestigious Alain Ducasse culinary school in Paris, who will serve as the executive chef overseeing the management and design of the food program. Eric Kole, a native of Washington DC, brings his local expertise to the general manager role. Olivier Filograsso will assume the position of wine director, curating an outstanding selection of wines for guests to savor.

Established in 2006, Samie Didda and Germain Michel introduced the first Amelie Wine Bar in San Francisco, followed by successful expansions to New York in 2012, with locations in the West Village and Upper East Side in 2017. In subsequent years, Amelie continued to broaden its horizons and introduced a new French Bakery and wine bar concept in Fairfax in 2020. The exceptional offerings and inviting atmosphere of Amelie Wine Bars have been recognized by esteemed publications such as the Michelin Guide, Forbes, the New York Times, and the San Francisco Chronicle.

Situated in the bustling heart of Logan Circle, Amelie DC provides a welcoming atmosphere with a seating capacity of 80, along with an additional 25 seats at the bar, to accommodate a wide range of preferences. The wine list stands out with 75 carefully selected wines available by the glass, showcasing a particular emphasis on small French wineries renowned for producing biodynamic wines. Enhancing the exceptional wine offerings is an extensive cocktail list featuring renowned French aperitifs such as Lillet, Pastis, Suze, and Dubonnet, ensuring a delightful experience for every guest. A dedicated bar offers a unique pastis service, adding an extra touch of allure to the experience. For those seeking non-alcoholic options, Amelie provides a diverse array of alcohol-free wines and cocktails, catering to a variety of tastes and preferences. The establishment will initially open for dinner daily, introduce weekend brunch, and will begin offering lunch service starting in September.”
