I wanted to give a shout out and HUGE thank you to the young woman who helped me rescue a stray kitten that was hit by a car on Wednesday night around 14th and Shepherd St NW!

I was walking my friend’s dog and she happened to be going by on her bike, when all of a sudden

the most awful meows came from the middle of the intersection. The poor cat had a broken leg and was bleeding, so I ran over and wrapped it up in a shirt, and she immediately hopped off her bike to grab the dog and walked back to my house with me. It was definitely a chaotic, emergency moment so I didn’t get a chance to catch her name!!

Whoever you are, you are an angel. Thank you SO much for taking the initiative to help out and for your calming energy. Also amazing news – the kitty survived and is in stable condition under the care of the Humane Alliance!!! For all the drivers out there, please please PLEASE pay attention to the roads at night and have your headlights on, and for the love of God stop the car if you think you hit an animal :(“
