“Cinco de Mayo in DC’s ‘Little Mexico’ on 14th Street” this weekend!!

From a press release:

“The vibrant blocks on 14th Street from Spring Rd to Shepherd St, known as “Little Mexico” due to their high concentration of Mexican restaurants, are preparing for a weekend of Cinco de Mayo celebrations from May 4-5. The festivities aim to showcase the area’s renowned Mexican cuisine and drive economic growth for local businesses, highlighting Little Mexico’s potential as a premier culinary destination in D.C.

Visitors can indulge in the flavors of Mexico through special promotions at local restaurants, such as Anafre’s street taqueria, Taqueria Habanero’s discounted margaritas and tequila shots, Chicatana’s all-day happy hour featuring tacos and bandera shots, and DC Corazon’s flautas ahogadas with their famous moles. The festivities will also feature live mariachi performances on Saturday from 6-9 PM and a captivating Mexican Folk Dance performance by Corazon Folklorico from 1-3 PM on Sunday.

“Little Mexico has the potential to become a premier culinary destination in D.C.,” said Gabriela Mossi, Executive Director at Uptown Main Street. “By attracting visitors and encouraging them to explore Mexican favorites like Taqueria Habanero, Mezcalero, Anafre, DC Corazón, and Chicatana, we will also bring tra]ic to other great bars and restaurants such as Toro Bar, Red Derby, Lyman’s Tavern, Little Coco’s, and Añejo Bar and Grill.”

This activation of Uptown Main Street and its members is sponsored by the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD), the Mayor’s O]ice of Latino A]airs, and Realtor Eddie Suarez from TTR Sotheby’s International Realty.

“We believe that the Cinco de Mayo celebrations will serve as a catalyst for the continued growth and development of Little Mexico,” said Mossi. “By shining a spotlight on our community’s incredible culinary scene, we’re laying the foundation for a bright future where Little Mexico is recognized as a must-visit destination for food lovers in D.C.”

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
