Adams Morgan/Kalorama Painted Van “torched”

Updates: Thanks to Ced for sending at 12:30pm

“The van is being towed now”

Prior to the van being towed readers sent photos of signs posted:

Thanks to Kyle for sending: “Fire Department extinguishing a van fire Saturday morning in Adams Morgan at the corner of Columbia Rd & Kalorama Rd. This van itself was pretty memorable. It had a bunch of political statements spay painted on the side and rarely (if ever) moved from that intersection over the last several years.”

Update from Morgan:

“At 4:15am heard a pop outside, and a few minutes later some more. Looked outside to a bunch of smoke and the graffiti van fully engulfed. The fire department arrived shortly thereafter.”

Jeanie gets a good photo of the aftermath:

“The iconic (weird) painted van that’s always near Kalorama Park has been… arson’d? It was its normal self Friday night around 6:30pm, though the door was slightly ajar which I’ve never seen, and then this morning it looked like it had gone up in wild flames overnight. Absolutely wild. Anyone have news on when this happened?”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
