From an email:
“Omakase @ barracks row, a multi course Sushi omakase experience, will open Thursday, November 9th on Barracks Row in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. After a series of pop up dinners, the restaurant will debut in their official location at 522 8th Street SE on the second and third floor, above Han Palace. The 21-course Omakase tasting menu is
the brain child of Chef Ricky Wang, who co owns the restaurant with Chris Zhu (Han Palace, China Garden, Ginza and Live K) and includes an array of sushi, handrolls and other specialties. A seasoned Sushi Chef, Wang has worked with some of the top chefs in DC, including alongside Jose Andres at Barmini and Mini Bar. Wang was also the opening chef at Sushi Nakazawa. Each level will feature 14 seats at a Chef’s Counter and the experience is priced at $180 per person.
The menu will change frequently, based on the seasonality and availability. Recent menu items include dishes like Smoked Corn & Amaebi Chawanmushi, Toro & Taken Temaki (Fatty Tuna Hand Roll), and desserts like Sake Katsu Ice Cream and Parmesan Sando. According to Chef Ricky, “at Omakase @ barracks row, we are looking to bridge the classic and the contemporary in sushi preparation; always highlighting and bringing to guests the the best flavors from the Ocean.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
