“Incessant fire alarms at Howard University dorms?”

“Dear PoPville,

I live close by to Howard University’s Plaza Towers on Barry Pl. NW, and have been hearing their fire alarms go off almost daily, sometimes multiple times a day (and as late as midnight).

The fire alarms are a piercing sound even with windows closed. DCFD will respond to some of the calls, which adds to the commotion (yes, I recognize I live in the city full of sounds and sirens, but am I supposed to hear fire alarms on a weekly basis?!). The alarms usually go on for about 15-20 minutes.

Has this been reported by anyone else in the past? I’m wondering if there’s any discussion about it in the community, since this also seems to be needlessly taking emergency responders away from real emergencies? “

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
